Simon is a psychotherapist, and practices from his therapy room on Colston Street. He also works at the University of Bristol, providing administrative support to postgraduate research students.
Recently, Simon has been supporting Central ward residents with a petition to return Colston Street to its historical name of Steep Street. He successfully secured the University of Bristol’s support for the name change, and the campaign has featured in Bristol 24/7 and the BBC.
Simon’s passion for politics is rooted in his experience of childhood poverty, and the apathy he saw on the Council estate he grew up on. Living in private rented accommodation like most other Central residents, Simon is a member of renters’ union Acorn, and a keen advocate of tenants’ rights. He calls on other tenants to support the Student Rent Strike in Bristol, and if elected will work to improve Council protection for private tenants.
For Simon, social justice and environmental justice are two sides of the same coin. A vote for Simon is a vote for the issues that matter in Central.
