Bristol Green party has selected Eleanor Combley to take over as leader of its councillor group. Cllr Combley was elected unanimously by the group of 11 councillors on Bristol City Council at a recent group meeting. She has replaced Cllr Charlie Bolton who has stepped down from the role.
Councillor Combley said
‘I am delighted to be selected as Green Group Leader. The Green group councillors are great people to work with, and I also look forward to working in a constructive fashion with all political groups to make Bristol a greener, more socially just place.’
Councillor Combley was elected to Bishopston and Ashley Down ward last May, having lived in the area since 2001. With a background in physics, she has worked as a teacher, teacher trainer and software engineer, as well as studying renewable energy technologies.
Councillor Bolton took on the role of Leader after the last election. He said,
‘As one of our most experienced councillors, I felt I should step in as Leader to enable our new councillors to find their feet, but I am very happy to be able to stand down now and spend more time in my ward and on other projects.’
