We believe you should have the right to feel safe wherever you live in Bristol. If you feel safer, you will also feel happier and prouder of the area you live in. We believe this can be achieved through stronger community cohesion
The coalition cuts will reduce police numbers and threaten community relations. We oppose them in the name of a stronger and safer community.
Greens do not believe that retributive sentencing is effective in reducing crime. We favour a restorative approach to justice which, while denouncing the crime, deals constructively with the offender and the victim.
The principle of restorative justice holds offenders to account for what they have done and helps them understand the real implications of their actions, to take responsibility and make amends.
We will strive to reduce crime by working to reduce the social pressures which lead individuals to commit crimes and fighting to retain funding for integration and youth projects, because we believe that a cohesive community is a safer community. This includes the introduction of 20mph zones across Bristol.
Violence against women goes largely unreported and can take many forms, such as domestic violence, forced marriage, trafficking for sexual exploitation, prostitution and child abuse.
The Green Party supports the current Violence against Women and Girls Strategy.
