Local Green Party campaigner Lorraine Francis was elected as the Councillor for Eastville Ward in May as part of a Green surge that saw the Party become the joint largest on Council.
Eastville ward is recognized by its park, Eastville Park, the Greenbank cemetery and cycle paths. Not forgetting the Royate Hill Reserve and the many small businesses in the area.
Whilst we have access to these great facilities, there are issues which many local people have concerns about, including speeding motorists making our roads unsafe, antisocial behaviour and a lack of local facilities. People say they are concerned about the quality of the air that we breathe, as well as high rents and the overall lack of resources for young people. In Eastville, there is a sense that certain parts feel neglected and how great it will be to support change. Our great assets need to be protected and families need to be supported.
The local green team, members and other local people that care about the neighbourhood are all working to make Eastville a great place to live.
“Eastville residents made a decision to vote Green this May. They did so because they care about the environment, clean air and wanted a councillor who they can rely on to be hardworking and who cares about the ward.
“In Eastville, we have a diverse community in regards to age, ethnicity and beliefs. This is a fantastic opportunity to work together to make a difference for the whole ward. I look forward to meeting as many of you as I can, so please look out for me over the next few months as I settle into the role.”
