Green councillors are celebrating the announcement that the number 9 bus will re-connect Clifton Village and Whiteladies road, following meetings between local Green councillors and First Bus.
Green councillor for Clifton, Jerome Thomas said:
“I am delighted that First bus have agreed to reinstate this important connection between Clifton Village and Whiteladies road. We met with First Bus some weeks ago to explain why it is important that the number 9 bus should be extended, and I am very pleased that they have taken this suggestion on board. We hope that the new planned route will help local people to get to local shops and healthcare facilities. Local Green councillors also remain concerned about the future of the 505 subsidised bus route – and very much hope that the Assistant Mayor for Transport will listen to their views on the 505 before making any decisions.”
“Our vision for Bristol is a city with a first rate public transport network, enabling people to get about safely and easily through walking, cycling, buses and trains. We are only going to be able to reduce the dangerous air pollution and congestion in our city if we have a truly integrated and well thought through bus network. Maintaining much needed local links like this is just common sense and the first step in building a transport system that properly serves the people of Bristol.”
