Sibusiso Tshabalala is a Green Party Councillor for Bristol Central Ward, focused on housing justice, resident voice, social value and community-led place shaping.
As a member of the Homes and Housing Committee, Chair of the Resident Engagement Task and Finish Group, and Chair of Area Committee 4, he works to connect community priorities with public investment. His leadership focuses on ensuring residents have a stronger voice in how neighbourhood funding, estate improvements and local services are shaped.
Drawing on lived experience of housing insecurity and council housing, Sibusiso brings a practical understanding of how policy and investment affect everyday life. His work in Kingsdown, Redcliffe, Broadmead and across Central Ward focuses on helping businesses and residents organise, identify priorities, access funding and lead improvements in their neighbourhoods.
He also champions social value and social enterprise as tools for fairer local economies, arguing that public spending should strengthen communities, support local organisations and create lasting benefit where investment is made.
For Sibusiso, place shaping is a democratic practice: it builds trust, shifts power, and ensures that local people have a real stake in the future of their communities.
